BSE Partners with Microsoft and Shephertz to Launch AI Based Chatbot ‘Ask Motabhai’

BSE announced the launch of ‘Ask Motabhai’, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based chatbot, in collaboration with Microsoft and Shephertz. The chatbot is programmed to provide on-demand data and information from the stock exchange’s website.

Currently, BSE displays real-time stock price information, corporate results, and announcements of more than 5,000 companies listed on the exchange.

Ask Motabhai is planned to make this job smoother and faster for investors, especially small, retail investors. The chatbot will have a text-based conversation with the user and mine the BSE website to provide customized information. It has been created with the help of Microsoft Bot Framework, Cognitive Services, QnA Maker and Language Understanding Intelligent Service on Microsoft Azure cloud.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, BSE said, “We are proud to announce the launch of BSE’s own chatbot ‘Ask MotaBhai’. BSE has always been at the forefront in adoption of technology based advancements, and launch of the chatbot marks yet another significant initiative in BSE’s endeavour to add to seamless customer experience. With the chabot in place, we would be able to serve our audience better and help them with quick information without having to go through any other channel.”

Apart from stock prices and corporate news, visitors on the BSE website often seek information on different financial instruments such as mutual funds, derivatives and IPOs. The chatbot is thus programmed to respond to market-related queries, for example, “what are the new IPOs?” and “which stocks are trading at their 52 week high?”. Such responses will be apart from the capability to address queries about corporate actions and a stock’s price.

Rajiv Sodhi, General Manager of Partner Ecosystem, Microsoft India added, “Our goal is to amplify human ingenuity with intelligent technology by infusing AI in everything we do. We provide a powerful platform of AI services and tools that makes innovation by our developers and partners faster and more accessible.  We are delighted to be partnering with BSE in its vision to emerge as a premier stock exchange with best global practices in technology, product innovation and customer service.”

ShepHertz, which is a Microsoft partner, has added an intuitive management console to the chatbot. It also has dashboards to access analytics on the chatbot usage patterns, resolved or unresolved queries and management of internal information systems. The chatbot is also able to adjust to the BSE website traffic.

Siddhartha Chandurkar, CEO and Founder of ShepHertz said, “ShepHertz is proud to partner with Microsoft in providing an intelligent AI BOT for BSE’s iconic website. The chatbot will enable BSE customers to have a seamless experience in finding information and resolving queries directly from the homepage.”

Established in 1875, BSE is Asia’s first Stock Exchange. It is also the world’s fastest Stock Exchange with a speed of 6 microseconds. As India’s leading exchange group, BSE has played a major role in developing India’s capital market. With a broad shareholder base that counts the leading global exchange, Deutsche Bourse, as a strategic partner, BSE is both corporatized and demutualised. It serves as an effective and transparent market for trading in equity, debt instruments, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, interest rate derivatives, mutual funds, and stock lending and borrowing.
