India’s esports scene has been buzzing with activity and growth, with numerous esports organizations and players making their mark in the industry. Today, Revenant Esports made headlines with the signing of two mobile gaming athletes, Deepak “SENSEI” Negi and Harshit “MJ” Mahajan. The Mumbai-based organization currently boasts 45+ athletes across eight rosters in different gaming titles and has managed to qualify for two international tournaments in Pokémon UNITE and Brawl Stars in just the first three months of 2023.

Revenant Esports also became the first Indian esports organization to feature on an OTT platform in April, tying up with ZEE5 for the E-Gaming Unplugged series. This move highlights the growing interest and investment in the Indian esports industry, as organizations and platforms recognize the potential for growth and revenue in the market.

The Indian esports industry has also seen notable achievements by individual players, such as Tekken athlete Abhinav Tejan and eFootball pro Ibrahim Gulrez, who triumphed in the finals of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023 organized by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) and secured their berths at the global finals of the 15th World Esports Championships (WEC) in Romania.

Women’s representation in Indian esports has also seen progress, as Team Top-G became the first-ever Indian female CS:GO team to qualify for the World Esports Championships after winning the NESC 2023. This milestone highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in the industry, as female gamers continue to break barriers and showcase their skills on the global stage.

Esports events and tournaments have also been taking place across the country, providing opportunities for players and teams to compete and showcase their talents. In March, Googly, an Indian multi-gaming platform, tied up with Glitchpop 2.0 at IIT Indore to host a hybrid gaming tournament featuring four popular Esports’ game titles – Valorant, Call of Duty Mobile, Clash Royale, and FIFA. With around 5000 registrations made through the Googly website for Glitchpop 2.0, the event has successfully created a buzz and driven gaming enthusiasts to showcase their skills.
