Samsung Electronics recently launched its first Android-based camera which would allow users to run applications in addition to shooting and sharing photos instantaneously.

Dubbed the ‘Galaxy Camera’, the camera was first unveiled in Berlin in August. It is now available in India for Rs.29,900. According to Samsung Electronics Vice-President (sales-mobile business) Asim Warsi, the Samsung Galaxy camera would give users complete freedom to take outstanding pictures and videos from anywhere through a single device.

“This camera marks a generational shift. Users can share their images or videos instantly through their social networking sites. Posting high definition images which look like the work of a professional on Facebook and Twitter can now become a smooth operation,” he said.

The collaboration between its mobile and digital imaging business units has allowed Samsung to create the new camera. “With a comprehensive set of 35 photo editing tools, the camera is ideal for editing. In fact, one can do extensive editing on this. Using the easy-to-navigate menu system, users can choose from a series of options which automatically adjust the camera’s settings in order to capture the perfect photo,” said Mr. Warsi.

3G/4G FEATURES

Equipped with a 21x super long zoom lens and a super bright 16M BSI CMOS sensor, the camera also features smart mode technology. Galaxy camera also comes with 3G/4G, Wi-Fi connectivity and the Android 4.1 operating system (jelly bean). Mr. Warsi said the company was seeking to create a whole movement to start taking professional-like images through a hand-held device. “India is the first five leading markets. We also launched this product in the United Kingdom simultaneously.”

The camera, with 4.8 (121.2 mm) high definition super clear touch display, is available in black and white. Other colors would follow shortly.

Pretty attention grabbing, ain’t it? We suggest it’s a great buy. One of the topmost in collaborative technologies we’ve seen till date.
