The multifold growth in smartphone penetration, the huge popularity of games like PUBG and Call of Duty, and the pandemic, are ensuring the acceleration of Indian Esports. Is the Indian gamer ready for to play international?

To find out, The Tech Panda spoke to Parth Chadha, Founder of EWar Games, a real-money gaming platform that provides a stage-wise platform to gamers to help go up the ladder in the field of esports.

We are definitely halfway there in terms of the hustle and winner mindset. Indian teams have performed excellent in terms of overall growth and it’s always a feeling of immense pride to see the Indian flag on the winning scoreboard

“The Indian demographic is evolving, many players lack the basic professionalism, but we do have a fair share of organizations like TSM Entity, Fnatic and Orange Rock Esports, etc., which are promoting player grooming over everything else,” he says.

“But we are definitely halfway there in terms of the hustle and winner mindset. Indian teams have performed excellent in terms of overall growth and it’s always a feeling of immense pride to see the Indian flag on the winning scoreboard,” he adds.

Chadha informs that while eSports franchise and platforms are present globally, they have little presence in India and usually, Indian players don’t get the right opportunities to continue making a career in this field.

“EWar is giving a platform to gaming enthusiasts to make a career in esports just how IPL is for cricketers or pro kabaddi for kabaddi players,” he says.

EWar Origin

EWar Games was founded in 2019. Founders Rahul Singh and Parth, both students of technology, came to know each other when they were studying in their respective institutes in Bengaluru. Both of them are hardcore techies.

Since then they researched quite a lot about the happenings in the gaming industry. After graduation, Chadha joined JP Morgan and Singh joined a startup where he was working on web and app development. However, gaming caught their interest.

“After thorough research, we saw a trend where people are hopping from one game to the other, from casual to hardcore, to even more serious games. We saw that people were also heavily attracted to fantasy games,” Chadha reminisces.

It was then that they came up with the idea of EWar Games, a one-stop solution for gamers who can choose the games as per their wish. They can opt for casual games, invest money in tournaments to earn more, play hardcore and serious games, all in one platform.  Play, Watch, and earn is the motto of the app.

Casual Games and Battles in Eight Languages

EWar is India’s vernacular esports platform where the gamer can play, watch, and earn. Be it casual games or gruesome battles in PUBG, FreeFire, COD, Clash Royal, etc., EWar allows the user to participate in 1vs1, squad contests, and tournaments.  It also has the facilities of watching live streams and interacting with streamers.

Gamers can play, watch, and most importantly earn. Users can play multiple games in the platform, from casual games like Candy Crush, Tappy Birds, etc., to the hardcore ones like Call of Duty, PUBG, and others.

One can play for free or can invest money in these games with the intention of earning more. Gamers also have the facility to live stream their gaming action on the app for enthusiastic users.

“We have around 700k users as of now, which we acquired within six months, and plan to reach five million within the next 10 months to one year,” says Chadha.

Users can experience the app in eight languages, i.e. Hindi, English, Kannada, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati.

This has helped us to cater to the bigger Bharat market of India from day one. EWar also started incorporating vernacularity in live streaming content,” he says.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the growth of the platform. With its inception in January, EWar acquired the majority of its users during the lockdown period in the country, reaching almost a million gamers.
