Twitter’s little blue bird logo has undergone a severe plastic surgery it seems. In a company blog post, the micro-blogging site made the announcement that it was launching a new version of the familiar blue bird. The blogpost notes:
Starting today you’ll begin to notice a simplified Twitter bird. Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.
The new bird has a upturned beak, no hair on top, and higher feathers. Overall it looks like its strutting and and seems a little more confident. Also the lowercase “t” will no longer represent Twitter on various share buttons across the web. The Bird is replacing the t.
Also, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo announced yesterday that Twitter has generated more advertising revenue from its mobile platform than from its website on many days in the last quarter.
