Google is set to offer a video subscription service for YouTube, with the company set to make a big announcement in the coming week. Pretty soon, you might have to pay for what channels you subscribe to.
I am not sure how different people are going to take this. But the fact is YouTube has made hundreds of artists famous and reachable through its platform. Events are recorded and uploaded on YouTube at a staggering rate of 72Hrs of Video every minute!
Viewers will be able to subscribe to each channel for as little as $1.99 a month
While subscriptions can help YouTube generate more revenue, it can also be beneficial for a lot of artists. Channels like RayWilliamJohnson, which is one of the most subscribed channels on YouTube, has close to 9 million subscribers. If we do a little math and assume around 20% people opting for paid subscriptions, the channel can make a whopping $3.6 Million extra!
Initially, the plan is to introduce this for only 50 channels.
